Luggage Compartment Lid Latch

The luggage compartment lid latch is installed on the back panel of the luggage compartment lid and engages with a striker on the luggage compartment. Operation of the latch release is controlled by the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) via a hardwired connection.

The latch release can be initiated in the following manner:

Operating the interior latch release switch on the auxiliary lighting switchpack.
Operating the exterior latch release switch located in the luggage compartment lid finisher above the license plate.
Operating the luggage compartment lid open switch on the smart key.

Once the latch is released the luggage compartment lid can be opened manually.

On North American Specification (NAS) market vehicles an emergency release handle and cable is attached to the latch. This allows the latch to be manually opened from inside the luggage compartment.

Operation of the locking motor in the luggage compartment lid latch is controlled by the BCM/GWM. An ajar switch in the latch provides the BCM/GWM with a "latch open" status signal.
