Rear HALFSHAFT - Project 8 (G2258095): Installation

    Install the new circlip to the halfshaft.

    Renew Part: Circlip  Quantity: 1. 

  2. CAUTION: Keep the halfshaft horizontal to avoid damaging the seal.

    Install the halfshaft to the rear differential.

  3. CAUTION: Take extra care when handling the assembly. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the CV  or the CV  boot.

    Install and tighten the new lower control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Lower control arm nut and bolt  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 110Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  4. CAUTION:
    • Take extra care when installing the halfshaft to the wheel knuckle. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the CV  or the CV  boot.
    • Do not use air or power tools to remove or install the halfshaft nut.

    Use the new halfshaft nut to aid installation of the halfshaft into the hub.

    Renew Part: Rear halfshaft nut  Quantity: 1. 

  5. Install and tighten the new tie-rod to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Tie-rod nut and bolt  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 60Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  6. CAUTION: Take extra care when handling the assembly. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the CV  or the CV  boot.
    • Install and tighten the new upper control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

      Renew Part: Upper control arm retaining nut and bolt  Quantity: 1. 

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 60Nm 

      Stage 2: 60° 

    • Install and tighten the new integral link nuts and bolts.

    Renew Part: Integral link nuts and bolts  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 48Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

    • Install the stabilizer bar link to the lower arm.
    • Install and tighten the new stabilizer bar link nut.

    Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link lower nut  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 40Nm 

    Stage 2: 45° 

  7. Remove the hydraulic jack.
    • Install the brake duct.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 10Nm 

    • Secure the height sensor link to the lower control arm.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

    Torque  : 9Nm 

    • Install the wheel speed sensor.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

    • Install the wiring harness into the clip.
    • Install the 6 grommets.
    • Install the brake caliper.
    • Install and tighten the 2 brake caliper guide pins.

      Torque  : 28Nm 

    • Install the 2 brake caliper caps.
    • Connect the electric connector to the EPB  .
    • Install the clip.
    • Install the brake pad wear sensor.
    • Install the 2 grommets.
  8. Install the brake pad spring clip.
  9. CAUTION: Do not use air or power tools to remove or install the halfshaft nut.
    • Apply the foot brake.
    • Install and tighten the new halfshaft nut.

      Renew Part: Rear halfshaft nut  Quantity: 1. 

      Torque  : 175Nm 

    • Loosen the halfshaft nut.

      Loosen  : 90° 

    • Tighten the halfshaft nut.

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 90Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  10. Install the wheel and tire.

  11. Fill the rear differential with the correct amount of oil.
