Rear Differential - Project 8 (G2297024): Installation

  1. NOTE: Only do this step if a new rear differential is to be installed.

    Clean the rear differential mating face.

  2. NOTE: Only do this step if a new rear differential is to be installed.

    Apply sealant meeting the correct specification.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS 

  3. NOTE: Only do this step if a new rear differential is to be installed.

    Install a new Electronic Torque Manager (ETM).

    Torque  : 10Nm 

  4. Install the rear differential.
  5. Install the oil cooler to ETM unit union.

    Torque  : 30Nm 

  6. Install the oil cooler pipe support bracket bolt.

    Torque  : 29Nm 

  7. Connect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
  8. Connect the electrical connector and secure the rear differential wiring harness to the clip.
  9. Raise the rear differential.

    General Equipment: Transmission jack 

  10. Install the rear differential bolts in the correct orientation.

    Torque  : 192Nm 

  11. Install the front lower rear differential mounting brackets and bolts.

    Torque  : 110Nm 

  12. Remove the transmission jack.
  13. Install the lower oil cooler to rear differential pipe.

    Torque  : 6Nm 

  14. Install the rear differential wiring harness.
  15. Align the rear driveshaft to the mark on the rear drive axle flange.
  16. Install the new 6 driveshaft to rear differential bolts.

    Renew Part: Driveshaft to rear differential bolts  Quantity: 6  .

    Torque  : 75Nm 

  17. Install both the rear halfshafts.

    Refer to: REAR HALFSHAFT - PROJECT 8

  18. Install the exhaust system center section.

    Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM CENTER SECTION

  19. Fill the rear differential.

    Refer to: DIFFERENTIAL DRAINING AND FILLING VEHICLES WITHOUT HEAVY DUTY DIFFERENTIAL
