Differential Draining And Filling Vehicles With Heavy Duty Differential (G2131349): Check

WARNING:
Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
CAUTION:
Make sure the area around the plugs is clean and free from foreign material before removing them.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Place a suitable container under the rear differential.

NOTE: Vehicles with locking rear differential.
Remove and discard the differential filler plug.

NOTE: Vehicles without locking rear differential.
Remove and discard the differential filler plug.
Remove and discard the differential drain plug.
- Allow the differential time to drain.
- Install a new drain plug.
Renew Part: Rear differential drain plug Quantity: 1 .
Torque : 27Nm

CAUTION: Do not fill the differential with lubricant up to the filler plug. The filler plug is only used to fill the differential with lubricant, and not to act as a level indicator.
Fill the differential with the correct amount and specification of lubricant.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- Install a new filler plug.
Renew Part: Rear differential fill plug Quantity: 1 .
Torque : 27Nm
- Clean any excess or spilt oil.
