Transmission - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol (G1817089): Installation: Part(S)

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

NOTE: If a new gearbox is being installed, install the transit plate to the original gearbox.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the transit plate.

NOTE:
- Make sure that the torque converter is fully engaged to the transmission.
- Secure the torque converter to the transmission using suitable cable ties.
Check the torque converter.

NOTE: Only do steps 3 to 7 if previously removed.
- Install the vibration damper.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 48Nm
- Install the transmission mounting.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 48Nm
Install the grommet.
- Install the lever.
- Install and tighten the nut.
Torque : 12Nm

CAUTION: To prevent water ingress and subsequent transmission damage, make sure that the breather is fully pushed home into the transmission casing. The white line around the circumference of the pipe should not be visible when correctly installed.
Install the breather.

WARNING:
- This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Make sure that the transmission is secured with suitable retaining straps.
CAUTION:- Make sure that the torque converter remains in the transmission.
- Apply grease of the correct specification to the torque converter spigot.
NOTE: Remove and discard the cable ties securing the torque converter.- Use a suitable transmission jack to install the transmission.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Install the bracket.
- Install and tighten the 3 bolts.
Torque : 48Nm
- Install the bracket.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque : 48Nm
Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque : 45Nm
Remove the transmission jack.
General Equipment: Transmission jack

CAUTION: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
Install and tighten 4 new torque converter bolts.
Renew Part: Torque converter bolts Quantity: 4.
Torque : 63Nm
Install the access cover.

NOTE: Make sure that you re-align the driveshaft to the transmission flange using the alignment mark.
- Reposition the driveshaft to the correct location.
- Install and tighten 6 new bolts.
Renew Part: Driveshaft to rear differential bolts Quantity: 6.
Torque : 75Nm

NOTE: Remove and discard the tie straps.
Reposition the wiring harness to the correct location.
- Connect the transmission electrical connector.
- Install the 4 clips.

- Install the 3 clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
- Reposition the wiring harness to the correct location.
- Install the 5 clips.

NOTE: Remove and discard the tie straps.
Install the 2 clips.
Install the 4 clips.

NOTE: Remove and discard the tie straps.
Install the cable into the 2 clips.
- Install the cable to the lever.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 11Nm
- Install 2 new O-ring seals.
Renew Part: Transmission casing O-ring seals Quantity: 2.
- Reposition the oil cooler pipes to the correct location.
- Install the oil cooler pipes to the transmission.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 22Nm
- Install 2 new O-ring seals.
- Reposition the ground cable away from the transmission.
- Install and tighten the nut and bolt.
Torque : 48Nm
- Install the wiring harness into the 3 clips.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the wiring harness into the 2 clips.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM
Remove the engine support bracket.
Special Tool(s): 303-021
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 303-1435
Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque : 48Nm
- Reposition the breather to the correct location.
- Install the clip.
- Install the secondary bulkhead left panel.

- Install the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL
- Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Check the transmission fluid level.
Refer to: TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK

If a new Transmission Assembly is installed. The Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment must be used to calibrate the module.

If a new Transmission Assembly is installed. The Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment must be used to calibrate the module.
- Select 'Transmission Control Module [TCM]'
- Select 'Replace ECU'
- Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
