Rear SUBFRAME - Project 8 (G2248720): Installation

CAUTION: Only tighten the nuts and bolts when the suspension is at the normal ride height. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
  1. Install the differential and 2 bolts.

    Renew Part: Differential case rear bolts  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque  : 192Nm 

  2. Install the 2 differential mounting bolts.

    Renew Part: Differential case front bolt(s)  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque  : 110Nm 

  3. Install the suspension arms to the rear subframe.

    Renew Part: Rear lower arm to subframe nut and bolt  Quantity: 4  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 70Nm 

    Stage 2: 240° 

  4. Install the 2 halfshafts to the differential.
  5. Install the 2 upper control arm to subframe nuts and bolts.

    Renew Part: Upper control arm nuts and bolts  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 60Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  6. Install the tie-rods to the rear subframe.

    Renew Part: Toe arm nut(s)  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 60Nm 

    Stage 2: 90° 

  7. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the 2 bolts and height sensor assembly.

    Torque  : 7Nm 

    • Install the 4 bolts and stabilizer bar.

      Renew Part: Rear stabilizer bar to subframe bolts  Quantity: 4  .

      Torque  : 60Nm 

    • Install the 2 upper stabilizer bar link retaining nuts.

      Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link retaining nut(s)  Quantity: 2  .

      Torque  : 60Nm 

    • Connect the 4 wiring harness electrical connectors.
    • Secure the 8 grommets and 23 retaining clips.
  10. Install the rear springs to the subframe.
  11. WARNING: Make sure the rear subframe is supported using a suitable stand and retaining straps.

    Using a suitable stand install the 4 bolts and subframe assembly.

    Renew Part: Rear subframe to body bolts  Quantity: 4  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 110Nm 

    Stage 2: 180° 

  12. Install the 8 subframe to body mounting bolts.

    Torque  : 60Nm 

  13. Align the driveshaft and install the 6 bolts to the driveshaft and differential input flange.

    Renew Part: Driveshaft flange bolts  Quantity: 6  .

    Torque  : 48Nm 

  14. Connect the fuel filler pipe to the fuel tank.
  15. Install the 2 bolts and heatshield.

    Torque  : 24Nm 

  16. Install the shock absorber lower nuts and bolts.

    Renew Part: Shock absorber nut and bolt  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 70Nm 

    Stage 2: 120° 

  17. Connect the electrical connector and secure the retaining clip.
    • Connect the 2 rear differential oil cooler hoses.

      Torque  : 30Nm 

    • Install the mounting the nut and bolt.

      Torque  : 10Nm 

  19. Fill the differential.

    Refer to: DIFFERENTIAL DRAINING AND FILLING VEHICLES WITH HEAVY DUTY DIFFERENTIAL

  20. Install the rear right wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER - PROJECT 8

  21. Install the front silencer.

    Refer to: FRONT SILENCER

  22. Install the rear brake pads.

    Refer to: BRAKE PADS

  23. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  24. Using only four-wheel alignment equipment approved by Jaguar Land Rover, check and adjust the wheel alignment.
