Front SUBFRAME - Project 8 (G2248484): Removal

NOTE:

This procedure contains illustration showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD - PROJECT 8
Remove the transmission undershield.
Refer to: TRANSMISSION UNDERSHIELD - PROJECT 8
Remove both front halfshafts.
Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT
Remove the air filter outlet pipe t-connector.
Refer to: AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE T-CONNECTOR

Release the coolant hose clip from the subframe.

Remove the bolt and remove the air pipe bracket.

Install the special tool.

Special Tool(s): 303-1436

Torque : 40Nm
CAUTION: Make sure to protect the paintwork.

Install the special tool to the position illustrated.

Remove and discard the engine mount to engine bracket nut.

Disconnect the steering gear wiring harness.

Remove the 3 bolts and release the transmission oil cooler from its mounting bracket.

- Remove and discard the bolt.
- Disconnect the steering column joint from the steering gear.

Using a suitable stand, support the cooling module.

General Equipment: Vehicle/axle stands

- Using a transmission jack, support the front subframe.
  General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Remove and discard the 6 bolts.
- Carefully remove the subframe.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

- Remove the 2 lower control arm assembly nuts and bolts.
- Remove the lower control arm assembly.
- Repeat this step for the other side.

Remove the 3 bolts and remove the steering gear right side heat shield.

Remove the 2 bolts and remove the steering gear left side heat shield.

- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the 3 clips.
- Remove the steering gear wiring harness.

- Remove and discard the 5 steering gear bolts.
- Remove the steering gear.

Remove the 4 bolts and remove the stabilizer bar.

Remove both the engine mounts from the subframe.

Remove the 4 bolts and remove the radiator mounting brackets.
