Front SUBFRAME - Project 8 (G2248484): Installation

  1. NOTE: Steps 1 - 10 are only required if previously removed.

    Install the 2 new suspension control arm setting clips.

    • Install the transmission oil cooler bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

    • Install the cooling module mounting brackets.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

    • Install the 2 engine mounts.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 47Nm 

    • Install the stabilizer bar.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 60Nm 

    • Install the steering gear.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Renew Part: Steering gear bolts  Quantity: 4  .

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 30Nm 

      Stage 2: 60° 

  7. Install the steering gear wiring harness.
    • Install both the steering gear heat shields.
    • Install and tighten the 5 bolts.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

  9. CAUTION: Nuts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Install the lower control arm assembly to the subframe.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts and bolts.

      Renew Part: Front lower control arm nut and bolt  Quantity: 2  .

      Renew Part: Rear lower control arm nut and bolt  Quantity: 2  .

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 100Nm 

      Stage 2: 180° 

    • Repeat this step for the other side.
    • Using a transmission jack, install the subframe.
    • Install and tighten the 6 bolts.

      General Equipment: Transmission jack 

      Renew Part: Front subframe to body bolts  Quantity: 6  .

      Torque 

      Front bolts

      Stage 1: 110Nm 

      Stage 2: 180° 

      Center bolts

      Stage 1: 110Nm 

      Stage 2: 180° 

      Rear bolts

      Stage 1: 100Nm 

      Stage 2: 60° 

    • Reposition the steering column. Install and tighten the bolt.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Renew Part: Steering column lower shaft lower bolt  Quantity: 1  .

      Torque  : 30Nm 

    • Install the transmission oil cooler.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

  13. Connect the steering gear wiring harness.
  14. Install and tighten the 2 engine mount to engine bracket nuts.

    Renew Part: Engine mount to engine mount bracket nut  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque  : 60Nm 

  15. Remove the special tools.
    • Install the air pipe bracket.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 20Nm 

  17. Install the coolant pipe bracket to the subframe.
  18. Install the air filter outlet pipe t-connector.

    Refer to: AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE T-CONNECTOR

  19. Install both front halfshafts.

    Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT

  20. Install the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD - PROJECT 8

  21. Install the transmission undershield.

    Refer to: TRANSMISSION UNDERSHIELD - PROJECT 8

  22. Connect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  23. Using the approved by Jaguar Land Rover wheel alignment equipment, check the wheel alignment and adjust if required.
