Front SUBFRAME - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel (G1817267): Removal

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles with all wheel drive (AWD) 

  1. Remove both front halfshafts.

    Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

  2. Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
  3. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

    Refer to: LIFTING

  4. Refer to: RADIATOR SPLASH SHIELD
  5. Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
  6. Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL

    Secure the radiator assembly.

  8. CAUTION:
    • Support the engine on a jack. The angle may need to be adjusted during this procedure.
    • Make sure to protect the paintwork.

    Renew Part: Steering column lower shaft lower bolt  Quantity: 1  .

    Torque  : 30Nm 

  18. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

  19. CAUTION: Discard the nut.
    NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Renew Part: Tie-rod end nut  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque  : 133Nm 

  20. NOTE:
    • Loosen but do not fully remove.
    • Repeat the step for the other side.

    Torque  : 185Nm

    Renew Part: Wheel knuckle nut  Quantity: 2  .

  23. CAUTION: Discard the bolt.
    NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Renew Part: Shock absorber lower bolt  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque  : 170Nm 

  24. CAUTION: Discard the bolts.
    NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

    General Equipment: Transmission jack 

    Renew Part: Front subframe to body bolts  Quantity: 6  .

    Torque 

    Front retaining bolts

    Stage 1: 100Nm 

    Stage 2: 180° 

    Centre retaining bolts

    Stage 1: 100Nm 

    Stage 2: 180° 

    Rear retaining bolts

    Stage 1: 80Nm 

    Stage 2: 60°

    Torque  : 9Nm 

  27. CAUTION: Discard the bolts.

    Renew Part: Steering gear bolts  Quantity: 4  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 30Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  28. CAUTION: Discard the nuts.

    Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link retaining nut(s)  Quantity: 4  .

    Torque 

    Retaining nuts: 48Nm 

    Retaining bolts: 60Nm 

  29. CAUTION: Nuts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    NOTE: Discard the nuts and bolts.

    Renew Part: lower control arm nut(s) and bolt(s)  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 100Nm 

    Stage 2: 180° 

  30. CAUTION: Nuts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    NOTE: Discard the nuts and bolts.

    Renew Part: Upper control arm to subframe nuts and bolts  Quantity: 2  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 100Nm 

    Stage 2: 180°
