Clean The Climate Control System: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • LIQUI MOLY is available in the following sizes:

    2K Air Conditioning (A/C) Cleaner - 1 x 5 liter plastic canister - LIQUI MOLY Article Number Product reference 9001 - with this kit, before the A/C  system disinfectant is used, the cleaning fluid (1 Liter) must be mixed with the relevant activation concentrate (fragrance in the sealed edge bag - it comes with the product pack). This will mix automatically and then the product is ready to use. The mixture must contain 1L of fluid and 1 bag of 'concentrate'.

  • The following LIQUI MOLY Parts are available already Pre-mixed:
  • A/C  System Cleaner - 6 x 1 liter plastic canister - LIQUI MOLY - Product reference 4091.
  • A/C  System Cleaner - 1 x 5 liter plastic canister - LIQUI MOLY - Product reference 4092.
  • A one-off purchase for the LIQUI MOLY applicator spray applicator will be required - LIQUI MOLY - Product reference 4090.

HVAC  evaporator cleaning fluid LR147015

Should a customer express the concern of a musty/damp odor emitting from the climate control system when the air conditioning system is operated, follow the steps below to clean the climate control system.

  1. Inspect and make sure that the condensation water drainage tube is not blocked.
  2. Dry the surface of the evaporator for 10 minutes with the engine running. Use the following heater and blower settings:
    1. Switch off the A/C  and set to circulation mode.
    2. Set the air distribution switch to the footwell.
    3. Turn the temperature regulator and blower selector to maximum.
  3. Remove the blower motor
  4. Install a suitable cover in the passenger footwell of the vehicle.
  5. Fill the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator pot with 40 fluid ounces (FL oz)/1.2L od the LIQUI MOLY A/C  system cleaner.
    NOTE: Make sure the spray pot is attached fully
  6. Install the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator pot onto the spray applicator.

    NOTE:
    • The LIQUI MOLY spray applicator tube will be inserted through the area where the blower motor has been removed.
    • Insert the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator tube as far as it can go to the right of the climate control system.
  7. Insert the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator tube into the climate control system.
  8. Spray the contents of the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator pot into the climate control system:
    1. Move the spray applicator tube carefully backward and forward to fully clean the evaporator.

    NOTE: Use a suitable cloth to wipe away any excess LIQUI MOLY fluid.
  9. Remove the LIQUI MOLY spray applicator tube from the climate control system.
  10. Install the blower motor
  11. Dry the surface of the evaporator for 10 minutes with the engine running. Use the following heater and blower settings:
    1. Switch off the A/C  and set to circulation mode.
    2. Set the air distribution switch to the footwell.
    3. Turn the temperature regulator and blower selector to maximum.
    NOTE: Use a suitable cloth to wipe away any excess LIQUI MOLY fluid.
  12. Remove the suitable cover from the passenger footwell of the vehicle.
  13. Install a new interior air filter
