Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH) System Functionality Check

Repeat The AHCM Activation Test 

This article will complete the AHCM activation test again, with the new components that have been installed

NOTE:
  • The Fuel Fired Booster Heater may also be referred to as the Auxiliary Heater Control Module (AHCM) in the repair information
  • The AHCM activation test should only be started when the engine is cool
  • The AHCM activation test should be performed with the engine running and with the climate controls set to the maximum temperature setting and maximum fan speed
  • This will operate the FFBH for 15 minutes
  1. Complete an AHCM activation test (0x900A). Refer to: DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX - DTC: AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL MODULE (ATCM)
    CAUTION: This procedure requires a minimum of Pathfinder 160 loader or later
    NOTE: The Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Approved Diagnostic Equipment will read the VIN  for the vehicle and automatically take the vehicle out of 'Transportation mode' if required
  2. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover Approved battery support unit
  3. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment to the vehicle and begin a new session
  4. Follow the on screen prompts of the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment
  5. Select "ECU Diagnostics"
  6. Select "HVAC Control Module [HVAC]"
  7. Select "ECU Functions"
  8. Select "Auxiliary Heater Activation Test"
  9. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete the task
  10. Using the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment, read the stored DTC  s
  11. If the Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH) actuated correctly during the "Auxiliary Heater Activation Test", and there are no DTC  s stored, continue to "Step  7 ". when all steps are complete, release the vehicle
  12. If the Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH) did not actuate correctly during the "Auxiliary Heater Activation Test", and/or either DTC  s B1D26-71 and B1D29-93 are stored, raise a Technical Assistance and continue to step  6
  13. Using the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment, clear the DTC  s that are stored in the HVAC Control Module
  14. If required, reset the vehicle to "Transportation Mode"
  15. When all tasks are complete, exit the session
  16. Disconnect the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment and the Jaguar Land Rover Approved battery support unit
