Pinpoint Test C: Timing Chain Rattle Noise Diagnosis

- C1: TIMING CHAIN RATTLE
- Let engine sit off for a period of 30 mins with ignition and engine OFF.
- Make sure the hood is left open.
- Make sure the drivers door is left open.
- Switch ignition on.
- Make sure the vehicle is in PARK for automatic transmissions, and NEUTRAL for manual transmission.
Let the engine idle. Is there signs of irregular mechanical rattle noise?
Yes
Confirm the noise is loudest to rear of engine Continue to replace the timing chains. Refer to: TIMING CHAIN(S), GUIDE(S) AND TENSIONER(S)
No
