Updating The Navigation Software
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
After the newest content files have been downloaded, the navigation software update process can be initiated. To execute this process, the following steps have to be taken:
The engine must be running or in Electric Vehicle (EV) ready mode during the entire map update process to make sure that the vehicle's power-saving measures do not interrupt the update.
- Start the navigation subsystem.
- Insert the 'USB storage device' that contains the appropriate content into the USB plug of the head unit.
- Tap 'Yes' in the dialogue box with the text "Are you sure you want to start the initial map update? ".
- Wait until the setup is completed. A status window shows its progress.
- In the meantime, the focus can be moved from the navigation system using the Back button, and return to the navigation using the Navigation shortcut button.
- Do not switch off the navigation system during the process and do not remove the USB storage device until the process is completed.
- After installing all the required map content, remove the connected 'USB storage device' . Tap 'Restart' to restart the navigation subsystem and use the uploaded content.
NOTE:
- A content update can be executed only if a fitted content version has already been installed. This means that the update can be performed only if the initial setup has been performed at least one time.
- Each content update consists of two steps. The first step includes creating a fingerprint by which the user is allowed to request and download newest packages and license files through the internet. When the update packages and the necessary licenses are downloaded, they need to be uploaded to the head unit, as the second step. The newly uploaded content is validated only after the ignition is turned off and turned on again in the vehicle.
