Preliminary Advice
JLR approved diagnostic equipment.
During the PDI, certain portions require the use of the JLR approved diagnostic equipment. Always use the latest version of software available.
Software updates.
It is not necessary to complete any JLR approved diagnostic tool software updates to the vehicle at PDI . Software updates to any module other than Software Over The Air (SOTA) configurable components should not be completed as part of the PDI routine unless required by an applicable Recall Action, UPS notice or Service Action Bulletin. The software level has no effect on functionality, so it is not a requirement and will not affect customer usability.
Transportation protection and seals.
- When removing vehicle protection, avoid any contact with; zippers, hooks, adhesive tapes and dirty exterior areas of the covers with the vehicles painted surfaces.
- Remove the separate hood cover as a last step to avoid scratches on the hood when the body cover is removed.
Make sure that the vehicle has arrived with all the transportation protection and seals intact, and that there is no obvious indication of an attempt to enter the vehicle.
If a transportation seal is broken or there is evidence that an attempt has been made to enter the vehicle, contact Jaguar Land Rover Limited. Refer to 'Information - Rectification and warranty' , for further details regarding warranty claims and liability.
All transportation protection and seals (except for the brake disc transit protection), are to be removed when the retailer is satisfied that the vehicle has arrived in a sealed condition.
Additional handling instructions:
When driving the vehicle, the drivers door cover must be rolled up and tied to the roof. During vehicle storage and transportation, the drivers door cover must be zipped closed.

Battery care requirements.
- All equipment used must be functionally capable of meeting the compliance requirements.
- The vehicle may need to be taken out of transit mode to complete the preconditions.
Make sure the correct standard of battery care is applied to the battery. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY CARE REQUIREMENTS
Whenever any work is completed, the JLR approved battery support unit must be connected to the vehicle at the terminals in the engine compartment. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY SUPPORT UNIT CONNECTION PROCEDURE
Startup battery disconnect.
If the startup battery is disconnected after conducting the PDI, certain vehicle electrical systems that are calibrated during the PDI will lose the calibration and will require resetting again when the startup battery is reconnected. This may include the PDI application and market configurations.
Touchscreen display.
The touchscreen display provides touch control of the vehicles Audio, Phone, Navigation, and Vehicle systems.
The console switches surrounding the touchscreen display are referred to as 'hard keys' and are to be pressed firmly. The touchscreen display functions are referred to as 'soft keys' and only require short, light pressure to function. Do not use excessive pressure.
When operating the touchscreen display soft keys, always extend the tip of one finger. Withhold the thumb and remaining fingers from the screen.
Touching the screen with more than one finger at a time may cause false inputs.
When the ignition switch is pressed, the touchscreen display is activated by use of the ON/OFF soft key located on the touchscreen display console.
Emergency park release system (Vehicles with automatic transmission).
In the event of vehicle transmission failure a mechanical means of selecting the Neutral gear is required. An emergency park release provides this functionality.
In an emergency, the emergency park release hand lever can be operated to release the park pawl within the transmission. The park pawl will not be allowed to re-engage until the hand lever is locked in the closed position.
