Turbocharger WASTEGATE Actuator

The turbocharger wastegate actuator is attached to the turbocharger compressor housing.

The wastegate actuator opens and closes the wastegate flap allowing the exhaust gas to bypass the turbine. The wastegate actuator contains a position sensor. The position sensor and the actuator motor are connected to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The actuator is controlled by a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal from the PCM.

If a fault occurs with the turbocharger wastegate actuator, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is registered in the PCM.
