Brake Pedal Switch

The brake pedal switch is mounted on the bracket for the brake pedal. The brake pedal switch is connected to the vehicle harness using a 4 pin multiplug.

When the brake pedal is pressed, the switch contacts close. This sends a hardwired signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). A brake pedal switch status message is then sent from the PCM to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module on the FlexRay bus. The ABS control module can then control braking force accordingly in conjunction with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
