Pollution Sensor (If Equipped)

The pollution sensor is mounted onto the climate control assembly intake above the filter element. The pollution sensor allows the HVAC to monitor the air being drawn into the passenger compartment for contaminants commonly found in traffic pollution, such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen.
Power supply for the pollution sensor is provided by the HVAC. The pollution sensor provides separate signals of hydrocarbon and oxidized gases via a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal to the HVAC. With a pollution sensor fitted, the HVAC can control the air intake source to reduce the amount of contaminants entering the passenger compartment.
