Pinpoint Test C: Heating And Cooling - Poor Heat Or Cool Efficiency

C1: DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BACKREST AND SEAT BASE CLIMATE ASSEMBLY -EFFICIENCY COMPARISON
1. Compare the efficiency of the seat backrest and seat base climate seat assembly to another climate seat assembly
  Is the efficiency equal between the two seats?
  
  Yes
  
  The efficiency is standard and comparable to the design intent, refer the customer to Jaguar Land Rover owner information for Climate Seats and review the system operation with the customer.
  
  No
  
  GO to C3.
C2: CONFIRM THE CORRECT SETTINGS
1. Where applicable to the system control type, use the infotainment screen to confirm that the seat backrest and seat base are both active, if not make sure that the seat backrest and seat base are both active and retest the system. Confirm if this was the cause for the customers concern.
  Were the settings the cause for the customers concern?
  
  Yes
  
  No further action required, refer the customer to Jaguar Land Rover owner information for Climate Seats and review the system operation with the customer.
  
  No
  
  GO to C3.
C3: CHECK FOR STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE(S)
1. Check the HVAC for stored DTC s
  Are there any stored DTC s?
  
  Yes
  
  For information on stored DTC s refer to the information in the HVAC DTC index. If the fault persists or the DTC index refers back to the Diagnosis and Testing procedure, GO to C4.
  
  No
  
  GO to C4.
C4: DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BACKREST AND SEAT BASE CLIMATE ASSEMBLY - FUNCTIONALITY CHECK
WARNING: Before work is completed, make the airbag supplemental restraint system safe. For additional information, refer to Standard Workshop Practices article of repair information
NOTE:
- The climate controlled seat's (heat and cool) functions will only operate when the vehicle's engine is running
- If a fault is identified and repaired, check for correct operation of the driver and front-passenger climate controlled seat (heat and cool) functions
1. Check the heat and cool function of the seat backrest and seat base
  Does the seat backrest and seat base heat and cool function operate correctly?
  
  Yes
  
  If there are no faults evident, verify the customer concern
  
  No
  
  GO to C5.
C5: SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECKS
1. Check the condition of the climate assembly fixing to the seat backrest and make sure the outlet is correctly installed and secured to the seat base.
  Is the climate assembly correctly installed and secured?
  
  Yes
  
  GO to C6.
  
  No
  
  Secure the climate assembly to the seat replacing any fixtures required and retest the system.
C6: SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECKS
1. Check the condition of the air intake and fan for blockages causing a restricted air flow.
  Were any blockages found?
  
  Yes
  
  Remove any blockages and retest the system.
  
  No
  
  GO to C7.
C7: SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECKS
1. Check the air intake and fan for damage which could cause reduced functionality.
  Was any damage to the air intake or fan found?
  
  Yes
  
  Replace the damaged climate assembly only, DO NOT replace in pairs.
  
  No
  
  GO to C8.
C8: SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECKS
1. Remove the climate assembly and inspect the climate assembly outlet duct is installed correctly to the seat backrest and the bellows within the seat backrest.
  Was a concern found with the alignment and installation of the components?
  
  Yes
  
  Rectify as necessary and retest the system.
  
  No
  
  GO to C9.
C9: SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECKS
1. Remove the seat backrest and inspect the bellows and the seat backrest cushion for damage.
  Was any damage found to the seat backrest cushion or the bellows?
  
  Yes
  
  Rectify as necessary, replace the bellows and/or the seat backrest cushion. DO NOT replace the seat backrest cover as part of the repair.
  
  No
  
  GO to C10.
C10: WIRING HARNESS INTEGRITY CHECKS
NOTE: The nyogel must not trace between pins of the connector, this can cause a potential short circuit
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and gain access to the affected climate assembly and climate seat module, check the connectors are secure and fully latched and retest the system.
  Were the connectors correctly installed?
  
  Yes
  
  GO to C11.
  
  No
  
  If the system began to operate as expected after reconnecting the connectors, complete a pin drag test to make sure that the female pin associated to the circuit is not loose. If any of the pins are loose or damaged, repair as necessary making sure that Nyogel (LR054614) is applied to the individual pins of the repaired connector.
C11: WIRING HARNESS INTEGRITY CHECKS
NOTE: The Nyogel must not trace between pins of the connector, this can cause a potential short circuit
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and gain access to the affected climate seat module, disconnect the electrical connector at the climate seat module and check for any damage, loose or bent pins in the module
  Was a concern identified with the connector or pins?
  
  Yes
  
  Rectify as necessary, repair the connector or pins, and if the male pins in the module are damaged replace the module as necessary. Make sure that Nyogel (LR054614) is applied to the individual pins of the repaired connector.
  
  No
  
  Before reconnecting, GO to C12.
C12: WIRING HARNESS INTEGRITY CHECKS
NOTE: The Nyogel must not trace between pins of the connector, this can cause a potential short circuit
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and gain access to the affected climate assembly, disconnect the electrical connector at the climate assembly and check for any damage, loose or bent pins in the climate assembly
  Was a concern identified with the connector or pins?
  
  Yes
  
  Rectify as necessary, repair the connector or pins, and if the male pins in the climate assembly are damaged replace the climate assembly as necessary. Make sure that Nyogel (LR054614) is applied to the individual pins of the repaired connector.
  
  No
  
  GO to C13.
C13: ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKS
NOTE:
- The Nyogel must not trace between pins of the connector, this can cause a potential short circuit
- When carrying out the test the circuit must be isolated from climate assembly and the climate seat module. Make sure to record all connector numbers and readings on the warranty claim
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and complete resistance tests of all wires between the climate assembly and climate seat module and check for short circuit, open circuit or high resistance.
  Was a concern found with the wiring harness?
  
  Yes
  
  Repair the wiring using an overlay harness (if available), REFER to: WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY Make sure that Nyogel (LR054614) is applied to the individual pins of the repaired connector.
  
  No
  
  GO to C14.
C14: HVAC SOFTWARE LEVEL CHECKS
1. Reassemble all of the electrical circuits, using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, update the HVAC to the latest level software, clear the DTCs and retest the system.
  Does the system operate as expected?
  
  Yes
  
  HVAC software fault, reassemble the vehicle and hand back to the customer.
  
  No
  
  GO to C15.
C15: SYSTEM CHECKS
1. Replace the individual affected climate assembly and retest the system.
  Does the system operate as expected?
  
  Yes
  
  No further action required, reassemble the vehicle and hand back to the customer.
  
  No
  
  Raise a TA and report all of the above findings and information.
