Pinpoint Test A: Heater And Cooling - Seat Backrest And Base Inoperative

A1: CONFIRM CLIMATE SEATING IS INSTALLED
1. Check the vehicle specification and confirm that climate seats (heated/cooled) are installed to the vehicle
  Are climate seats (heated/cooled) installed to the vehicle?
  
  Yes
  
  GO to A2.
  
  No
  
  No further action required, refer the customer to Jaguar Land Rover owner information and explain that the function is not installed.
A2: CHECK FOR STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE(S)
1. Check the HVAC for stored DTC s
  Are there any stored DTC s?
  
  Yes
  
  For information on stored DTC s refer to the information in the HVAC DTC index. If the fault persists or the DTC index refers back to the Diagnosis and Testing procedure, GO to A3.
  
  No
  
  GO to A3.
A3: DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BACKREST CLIMATE ASSEMBLY - FUNCTIONALITY CHECK
WARNING: Before work is completed, make the airbag supplemental restraint system safe. For additional information, refer to Standard Workshop Practices article of repair information before removing components or disconnecting affected seat connectors
NOTE:
- The climate controlled seat's (heat and cool) functions will only operate when the vehicle's engine is running
- The climate controlled seat's (heat and cool) functions may not operate as expected with the battery in a low state of charge
1. Check the heat and cool function of the seat backrest and the seat base with the vehicle engine running and the battery in a good state of charge
  Does the heat and cool function operate correctly?
  
  Yes
  
  No further action required, refer the customer to Jaguar Land Rover owner information for Climate Seats and review the system operation with the customer.
  
  No
  
  GO to A4.
A4: DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION CLIMATE ASSEMBLY - CIRCUIT CHECKS
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the supply ground circuit and LIN circuit at the affected climate seat module for short circuit, open circuit or high resistance
  Was a fault identified with any of the circuit checks?
  
  Yes
  
  Repair the wiring harness REFER to: WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY or replace the affected climate seat module as necessary.
  
  No
  
  GO to A5.
A5: DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION CLIMATE ASSEMBLY - CIRCUIT CHECKS
1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and inspect all of the associated supply ground and LIN circuit harness connectors and terminals for signs of damage, backed out/loose pins, corrosion and water ingress.
  Was a concern identified with any of the connectors?
  
  Yes
  
  Repair the wiring harness/connector as necessary REFER to: WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY
  
  No
  
  GO to A6.
A6: HVAC CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE LEVEL CHECK
1. Reassemble all of the electrical circuits, using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, reconfigure the HVAC with the latest level software and retest the system.
  Does the system operate as expected?
  
  Yes
  
  No further action required, software fault with HVAC
  
  No
  
  GO to A7.
A7: CAR CONFIGURATION FILE UPDATE
1. Using Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check and update the car configuration file as necessary. Clear the DTC s and retest
  Does the system operate as expected?
  
  Yes
  
  No further action required, Car Configuration File (CCF) fault with HVAC
  
  No
  
  Raise a Technical Assistance (TA) and report all of the above findings and information.
