Active Exhaust System

The active exhaust system allows exhaust gases to bypass the rear silencer to produce a more sporty exhaust sound during performance driving.
The active exhaust system comprises:
- Active exhaust switch
- Active Exhaust Module (AEM)
- exhaust valves (each valve consists of a butterfly valve and an electric actuator).
The operation of the active exhaust system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM sends a Pulse With Modulation (PWM) signal to the actuators through the AEM to set the required valve position.
The AEM monitors the PWM signal but does not control or change the signal.
The exhaust valve position is variable between the open and closed position.
The PCM determines the exhaust valve position according to various engine operating conditions.
