Engine Wiring Harness - Project 8 (G2248420): Removal

CAUTION:
- Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
- Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Remove the left air filter housing.
Refer to: LEFT AIR FILTER HOUSING
- Remove the right air filter housing.
Refer to: RIGHT AIR FILTER HOUSING
- Remove the Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe T-Connector.
Refer to: AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE T-CONNECTOR
- Remove the secondary bulkhead left inner panel.
- Remove the secondary bulkhead right inner panel.
- Raise and support the vehicle.

- Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM CENTER SECTION
- Drain the coolant.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING
Disconnect the vacuum pipe.
Release the 2 coolant hoses.
Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harness (NVH) material.
Release the 2 coolant hoses.
Remove the NVH material.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the clip.
- Remove the bolt.
- Move the thermostat housing from the engine.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the bolt to release the ground cable.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the bolt to release the ground cable.
- Disconnect the 9 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 hose clips.
- Release the fuel pipes from the 3 clips.
- Release the 5 clips.
- Move the wiring harness carrier aside.
- Disconnect the 9 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the 5 clips.
- Move the wiring harness carrier aside.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the nut to release the ground cable.
- Remove the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump cover.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Remove the nut to release the starter cable.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the wiring harness carrier.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the cable from the selector lever.
Release the selector lever from position PARK.

NOTE: Mark the position of the driveshaft on the transfer case flange.
- Remove and discard the 6 bolts.
- Remove the 3 washers.

CAUTION: Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.NOTE:
- Make sure that the special tool is correctly installed to the recess on the driveshaft.
- Using a suitable hammer and drift, make sure that you only hit the corner edges of the special tool to remove the driveshaft.
Release the rear driveshaft from the transfer case flange.
Special Tool(s): 205-932

WARNING: Make sure that the transmission is secured with suitable retaining straps.
Use the suitable equipment, support the transmission.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
Remove the 6 bolts.

CAUTION: Make sure that the transmission is lowered to the value indicated in the illustration.
Lower the transmission.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the 2 wiring harness carriers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 5 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the wiring harness carrier.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the wiring harness carrier.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 6 wiring harness clips.
- Release the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Release the accessory drive belt from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor pulley.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Position the A/C compressor aside.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 5 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
Remove the engine wiring harness.
