Engine Compartment Wiring Harness - Project 8 (G2248419): Removal

WARNING:
  1. To prevent accidental deployment, you must de-energize the power in the Restraints Control Module (RCM). Wait at least 2 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable before you do any work on, of adjacent to, the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS). If you do not follow these instructions, it can cause injury or death.
  2. Always wear safety glasses when working on an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling an air bag module. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
  3. Do not connect any electrical test device or equipment to the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) connectors.
CAUTION: Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
NOTE:
  1. This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  2. This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  2. To avoid accidental deployment, wait at least 2 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
  3. Remove the left air filter housing.

    Refer to: LEFT AIR FILTER HOUSING

  4. Remove the right air filter housing.

    Refer to: RIGHT AIR FILTER HOUSING

  5. NOTE: This procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove the front wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER - PROJECT 8

  6. Remove the secondary bulkhead left inner panel.

    Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD LEFT INNER PANEL - PROJECT 8

  7. Remove the secondary bulkhead right inner panel.

    Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD RIGHT INNER PANEL - PROJECT 8

  8. Remove the instrument panel.

    Refer to the appropriate service information

  9. NOTE: Repeat the procedure for the other side.

    Remove the A-pillar lower trim panel.

    Refer to: A-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

    1. Remove the 3 bolts.
    2. Remove the mounting bracket.
    3. Remove the windshield wiper motor.

    1. Remove the 4 clips.
    2. Remove the 2 front floor carpets.

    Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors.

    1. Remove the 2 nuts.
    2. Lower the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) assembly.
    3. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
    4. Remove the (BCM/GWM) assembly.

    1. Remove the access cover.
    2. Disconnect the 6 electrical connectors.

    1. Release the wiring harness clip.
    2. Remove the nut to release the ground cable.

    1. Release the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Move the wiring harness through the bulkhead panel.

    1. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
    2. Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    1. Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors.
    2. Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    1. Remove the nut to release the ground cable.
    2. Release the 5 wiring harness clips.

    1. Release the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Move the wiring harness through the bulkhead panel.
  24. Remove the passive sounder.

    Refer to: ANTI-THEFT ALARM HORN

    1. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
    2. Release the 7 wiring harness clips.
    3. Release the electrical connector.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    1. Release the 11 wiring harness clips.
    2. Disconnect the 7 electrical connectors.

    Release the hood release cable from the 5 clips.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Release the 6 wiring harness clips.
    3. Release the wiring harness carrier.

    Remove the 2 dirty air ducts.

    1. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
    2. Remove the nut to release the ground cable.
    3. Release the 5 wiring harness clips.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Remove the nut.
    3. Remove the horn.
    4. Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    3. Remove the horn.

    1. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts to release the ground cables.
    3. Release the harness clip.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts to release the ground cables.
    3. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts.
    3. Release the wiring harness carrier.

    1. Release the 7 wiring harness clips.
    2. Remove the 3 nuts.
    3. Release the clip.
    4. Remove the engine compartment harness.
