Wheels And Tires - Project 8 (G2231238): Operation: Tires

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Care must be taken when removing and installing tires to make sure that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor is not damaged.
NOTE:
  • The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) valve must be serviced using the appropriate service kit. Each time when the tire is being dismounted, an air tight seal must be granted. Follow the instructions about using the service kit.
  • If the metal valve stem is damaged, it may be replaced independently of the TPMS sensor. The metal valve stem is a separate component so the entire TPMS sensor assembly does not need to be replaced.
  • If tires and wheels of a non-standard size are mounted to the vehicle, the Car Configuration File (CCF) must be updated using a Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment.

ITEM DESCRIPTION
1 Tire valve and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor
2 Tire mounting tool start position
3 High tire and bead tension area
4 Low tire and bead tension area

When removing the tire, the bead breaker must not be used within 90° of the tire valve in each direction.

When using the tire removal machine, the mounting arm at the start position as shown in the tire changing illustration. The wheel may be rotated through 180° in a counter-clockwise direction. The rotating relieves the high tension from the tire bead and allows the remaining 180° of the tire from the rim to be pulled manually.

When remounting the tire, position the remount arm as shown. Rotate the tire and take care that the bead on the low tension side of the tire does not damage the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor.
