Rear Bumper - Project 8 (G2245716): Removal

CAUTION:
Do not attempt to pull or bend the bumper assembly to improve or achieve alignment to the vehicle body panels. Failure to follow this caution could result in damage to the bumper.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

NOTE: Repeat the procedure for the other side.
Remove the rear wheel arch liner.
Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER - PROJECT 8

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
Remove the outside bolt from the rear bumper.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Release the electrical connector.
Remove the 4 lower bolts from the rear bumper.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
Remove the outside screw from the rear bumper.
Remove the 2 covers.
Remove the 2 upper bolts from the rear bumper.
Release the rear bumper on both sides.

CAUTION: Make sure to protect the paintwork.NOTE: Take extra care when releasing the clips.
With assistance, remove the rear bumper.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors from the parking aid sensors.
- Carefully release the 8 clips.
- Remove the rear bumper wiring harness.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the clips.
Remove the 4 parking aid sensors.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 2 outside finishers from the rear bumper.
- Remove the 10 bolts.
- Remove the rear valance.
