Fuel Rail (G2032604): Removal

CAUTION:
  • Extreme cleanliness must be exercised when handling these components. Make sure that all tools and the surrounding area is clean before commencing work.
  • When the fuel rail is removed all the fuel injector seals must be replaced at the same time.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustration showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety article of this repair information.

    Refer to: PETROL AND PETROL-ETHANOL FUEL SYSTEMS HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  2. Release the fuel pressure.

    Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE

  3. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

  4. Clean all the fuel tube unions and the surrounding area before working on the fuel system.

    Refer to: FUEL INJECTION COMPONENT CLEANING 

  5. Remove the fuel injectors.

    Refer to: FUEL INJECTORS 

  6. CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

    Remove the fuel rail pressure sensor.
