IQ/Battery Drain Investigation Tests

In cases where the customer reports a low battery warning on a vehicle indicating a drain on the battery (and where the battery drain has NOT been detected by the quiescent drain test REFER to: QUIESCENT DRAIN , a more thorough investigation may be required to identify the root cause of the battery drain

In the following battery drain investigation procedures there are six sets of tests, each set comprises three task lists (except Set 6, which has four task lists). Not all six sets of tests needs to be completed on every vehicle, this is a list of actions designed to prompt a vehicle failure. If a failure is detected, do not continue with the remaining sets, connect a Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit to prevent the battery going flat and raise a TA  request immediately. If the vehicle is only available for a reduced amount of time, complete as many sets as possible before the return of the vehicle

1. Approach the vehicle and observe the state of the hazard switch illumination before interacting with the vehicle in any way. Note and record the status of the hazard switch illumination (Hazard Switch Illuminated? - YES/NO  ) at the start of each task.
2. Perform the specific task lists in the order they appear in the Test Table shown below. Each task should only be completed one time before moving on to the next task and the vehicle should be left alone for 20 minutes* at the end of each test
   NOTE: *extend the 20 minute waiting time to 1 hour for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) vehicles

   After 20 minutes* has elapsed, note and record the status of the hazard switch illumination (Hazard Switch Illuminated? - YES/NO  ).

3. If, at any time during the procedures, the hazard switch is still illuminated after 20 minutes* connect a Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit to prevent the battery going flat and raise a TA request immediately.
