  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported condition is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step
  4. If the fault is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the following Symptom Chart
SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
The vehicle is unstable while moving at speeds over approximately 70 km/h (40 mph) and may also appear to drift on a smooth road surface. A Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) relating to Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) may be illuminated on the Instrument Cluster (IC)
  • Insufficient retention of press installed parts leading to the rear suspension left and/or right tie-rod bush becoming fully detached from the steel tie-rod
NOTE: Rear tie-rod may also be known as rear toe-link in TOPIx service information
  • Replace both rear suspension tie-rods. Refer to: TOE LINK
  • Connect a Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit. Then, using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index for remedial actions. Any other fault codes should also be investigated and rectified. Clear all DTCs and retest. Disconnect the Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit
Evidence of fluid on shock absorber
  • Fluid on shock absorber from an external source
  • Fluid leaking from shock absorber
