Transmission Cooling (G1899075): Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) from the pump in the automatic transmission flows through the feed hose and pipe to the ATF cooler. The ATF then flows through the ATF cooler, and the return hose and pipe, to the fluid pan of the automatic transmission. On vehicles with a thermostatic valve, ATF flow is only permitted when the thermostatic valve is open.
The engine coolant flows through a dedicated section of the engine cooling radiator. The left end tank of the radiator is partitioned and directs the cooled engine coolant direct to the ATF cooler. The coolant passes through the ATF cooler and exits the ATF cooler into the radiator lower hose.
