Rear Shock Absorber (G2187380): Installation
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

CAUTION:
- Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
- Make sure that a new nut is installed.
- Install spring aid to mounting bracket.
- Install the gaiter and secure to the mounting bracket.
- Install the mounting bracket assembly and clip the gaiter to the shock absorber.
- Install and tighten the nut.
Renew Part: Shock absorber nut Quantity: 1 .
Torque : 30 Nm
- Install the cap.

CAUTION: Make sure that a new nut and bolt is installed.NOTE:
- Do not fully tighten the nut and bolt at this stage
- Make sure that the shock absorber rod is centralized within spring aid center hole.
- Active shock absorber Only: Rotate the shock absorber 45° during assembly to allow the shock absorber solenoid to pass the half shaft. Make sure the damper is rotated back to installed position.
- Install the shock absorber.
- Install a new nut and bolt.
Renew Part: Shock absorber nut and bolt Quantity: 1 .

CAUTION: Make sure that new nuts are installed.
- Install and tighten the 2 nuts.
Renew Part: Shock absorber mounting retaining nut(s) Quantity: 2 .
Torque : 110 Nm
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with active damping
- Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

- Connect and secure the electrical connector to the rear lower control arm.
- Connect the electrical connector.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Install the rear wheel arch liner.
Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Install the wheel and tire assembly.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the nut and bolt.
Torque : 170 Nm
- Tighten the nut and bolt.
- Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, calibrate the suspension ride height.
