Coil Spring (G2193672): Installation

  1. CAUTION: Make sure that the components are installed to the noted position in the removal steps.

  2. WARNING:
    • Use 2 suspension coil spring compressors located on opposite sides of the coil spring. Make sure the suspension coil spring compressors are correctly installed. Refer to manufactures instructions.
    • Make sure that protective jaws are installed to the suspension coil spring compressor. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the protective coating of the coil spring.
    • Install the 2 coil spring compressors.

      General Equipment: Suspension Spring Compressor 

    • Compress the coil spring.
    • Install the coil spring.
  3. Raise the transmission jack.

    General Equipment: Transmission jack 

  4. CAUTION:
    • Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Make sure that a new nut and bolt is installed.
    NOTE: Do not fully tighten the nut and bolt at this stage.

    Install the nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Rear lower arm to knuckle nut and bolt Quantity: 1  .

  5. CAUTION:
    • Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Make sure that a new nut and bolt is installed.
    NOTE: Do not fully tighten the nut and bolt at this stage.

    Install the nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Lower control arm nut and bolt Quantity: 1  .

  6. CAUTION:
    • Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Make sure that a new nut and bolt is installed.
    NOTE: Do not fully tighten the nut and bolt at this stage.

    Install the nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Toe link to knuckle nut and bolt Quantity: 1  .

  7. CAUTION:
    • Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Make sure that a new nut and bolt is installed.
    NOTE: Do not fully tighten the nut and bolt at this stage.

    Install the nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Shock absorber nut and bolt Quantity: 1  .

  8. Remove the 2 coil spring compressors.
  9. Install the height sensor.
  10. Remove the transmission jack.
  11. Install the rear wheel and tire assembly.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .

  12. Lower the vehicle.

    • CAUTION: Make sure that the torque is applied on the nut.

      Tighten the nut.

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 70 Nm 

      Stage 2: 240°

    • CAUTION: Make sure that the torque is applied on the nut.

      Tighten the nut.

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 48 Nm 

      Stage 2: 60°

    • CAUTION: Make sure that the torque is applied on the nut.

      Tighten the nut.

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 60 Nm 

      Stage 2: 180°

    • CAUTION: Make sure that the torque is applied on the nut.

      Tighten the nut.

      Torque  : 170 Nm 

    • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, calibrate the suspension ride height.
    • Refer to: RIDE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS .
