Removal And Installation: Removal
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustration showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety service information.

- Release the fuel pressure.
Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release (General Procedures).
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).
- Remove the engine cover.
Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
Disconnect the breather.

CAUTION: Discard the clips if damaged or worn.
Release the coolant hose and wiring harness clips.
Disconnect the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump electrical connector.
Remove the engine lifting eye.
Disconnect and reposition the engine wiring harness.
- Clean all the fuel tube unions and the surrounding area before working on the fuel system.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
Remove the 2 fuel tubes.
- Remove the spark plugs.
Refer to: Spark Plugs (Engine Ignition - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION: Discard the clips if damaged or worn.
Release the fuel injector wiring harness.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.CAUTION:
- Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
- Loosen each of the bolts 1 turn at a time until the spring tension is fully released.
Remove the fuel rail.
Remove the fuel injector wiring harness.

CAUTION: If the original fuel injector is being installed, the original fuel injector spring clamp must be installed with the fuel injector it was removed from.
Remove the 4 fuel injector spring clamps.

CAUTION: Make sure that the special tool is correctly installed.
Install the special tool to the fuel injector.
Special Tool(s): JLR-310-254A

CAUTION:
- Make sure that the special tools are held square to the fuel injector during removal.
- Make sure that all open ports are covered to prevent any foreign material ingress.
Using the special tools, carefully remove the fuel injector.
Special Tool(s): 100-012
- Remove the special tools from the fuel injector.

CAUTION: Do not use any sharp tools to remove the O-ring seal as damage could occur to the fuel injector.
Remove and discard the O-ring seal and washer.

CAUTION:
- Do not use a knife to remove the Teflon™ seal as damage could occur to the fuel injector.
- Pinch the Teflon™ seal to allow the tool to cut the Teflon™ seal without damaging the fuel injector.
- Do not cut the Teflon seal too deep as damage could occur to the fuel injector.
Remove and discard the Teflon™ seal.
- Repeat removal steps 18 to 22 for the remaining fuel injectors.
