Removal And Installation: Installation

Install a new O-ring seal and washer.

Renew Part: Fuel injector O-ring seals.
Install the special tool to the fuel injector with the 'T' symbol towards the top of the fuel injector as shown.

Special Tool(s): JLR-310-257
Using the special tool, install a new Teflon™ seal to the fuel injector.

Special Tool(s): 310-198

Renew Part: Fuel injector lower seals.
Wait 2 minutes to allow the Teflon™ seal to recover its shape.
1. Remove the special tool.
2. Check for correct installment of the Teflon™ seal.
CAUTION:
- If the original fuel injector is being installed, the original fuel injector spring clamp must be installed with the fuel injector it was removed from.
- If new fuel injectors are installed, new fuel injector spring clamps must be installed.
Install the fuel injector spring clamp.
Repeat installation steps 1 to 6 for the remaining fuel injectors.
CAUTION: Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

Carefully install all the fuel injectors into the fuel rail.
Make sure the fuel injectors are correctly aligned.
Make sure the fuel injectors are correctly aligned.
CAUTION: Install new clips if damaged or worn.

Install the fuel injector wiring harness.
Install the appropriate special tools. If a new cylinder head has not been installed then the special tool JLR-310-255 with the threaded section must be used. If a new cylinder head has been installed then the special tool JLR-310-256 without the threaded section must be used.

Special Tool(s): JLR-310-255, JLR-310-256
1. Install the fuel rail and fuel injector assembly allowing the guide pins to control position.
2. Tighten the bolts 1 turn at a time.
Torque Specification: 20 Nm
Remove the special tools.
Special Tool(s): JLR-310-255, JLR-310-256
Install the remaining 2 bolts.
Torque Specification: 20 Nm

Tighten the bolts in the sequence illustrated.

Torque Specifications:

Stage 1 20 Nm

Stage 2 30 Nm
Install the spark plugs.
Refer to: Spark Plugs (Engine Ignition - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol, Removal and Installation).
CAUTION: Fuel tubes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.
1. Install the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump to fuel rail tube hand tight until the 2 unions are fully seated.
2. Fully tighten the HP fuel pump union.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
3. Fully tighten the fuel rail union.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
4. Wait for 30 seconds.
5. Check the HP fuel pump union torque.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
6. Check the fuel rail union torque.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
CAUTION: Fuel tubes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.
1. Install the HP fuel pump supply tube hand tight until the union is fully seated.
2. Install the HP fuel pump supply tube mounting bracket bolts hand tight, then loosen by 90 degrees.
3. Fully tighten the HP fuel pump supply tube union.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
4. Fully tighten the HP fuel pump supply tube mounting bracket bolts.
  Torque Specification: 11.5 Nm
5. Wait for 30 seconds.
6. Check the HP fuel pump supply tube union torque.
  Torque Specification: 21 Nm
7. Connect the fuel supply tube connector.
Install the engine lifting eye.
Torque Specifications:

M8 Bolts 25 Nm

M10 Bolt 48 Nm
CAUTION: Install new clips if damaged or worn.

Install the coolant hose and wiring harness clips.
Connect the engine wiring harness.
Torque Specification: 8.5 Nm
Connect the breather.
Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
Install the engine cover.
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
