NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

All vehicles

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift. Refer to: Jacking .
Drain the transfer case.

Refer to: Transfer Case Draining and Filling .

Vehicles with V6 3.0L engine

Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL .

All vehicles

CAUTION:
- Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the drive pinion flange.
- To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang.
- Discard the bolts.
Remove and discard the driveshaft bolts.
using a suitable tool remove the drive flange.
Remove and discard the circlip.
WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

Carefully remove and discard the oil seal.

Clean the seal register and thoroughly inspect for damage.
