Tire Pressure Sensor (G2163965): Removal

WARNING: Take extra care not to damage the sensor during the removal and refitting of the tire.
CAUTION: If a new sensor is installed, make sure that the sensor type and frequency is the same as the sensor that has been removed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the system malfunction.
NOTE:
  • To avoid null or under inflated pressure readings for the spare tire the spare tire should be inflated in close proximity to the vehicle, and to the maximum pressure as stated on the placard label for the specific tire size.
  • If a new sensor is installed to the spare wheel, the identification for that sensor must be programmed into the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) module using Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment. The identification code is printed on the casing of each sensor.
  • If the sensor is replaced on a 'running' wheel, the new sensor identification will be learnt when the vehicle is first driven.
  • Note the sensor will only be learnt if the vehicle is driven for a minimum of 8 minutes at a speed exceeding 15kph.
  • The sensor valve stem is a serviceable item and may be replaced independently of the main sensor body (service part number: C2D29156). To replace the valve stem on removal of the sensor from the wheel, remove the seal and washer, the stem may then be separated from the sensor body.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. WARNING: The valve seal (3) and steel washer (4) must be replaced each time a tire is changed to avoid seal failure (service part number: C2D29157). The seal and washer must be replaced if the sensor (5) is removed. Removal of the sensor retaining nut (2) must be regarded as sensor removal. The valve cap (1) must always be in place except when inflating or checking pressure.
