Wheel Knuckle (G2187517): Removal
- The suspension arm nuts and bolts must be tightened with the suspension arms in the normal ride position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in premature failure of the bush.
- Do not allow halfshafts to hang unsupported at one end or joint damage will occur.
- Make sure the halfshaft Constant Velocity joint (CV) do not over articulate. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the CV .
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- If a new wheel knuckle is installed, a new wheel bearing must be installed.

- Before replacing the wheel knuckle, make sure to have followed the diagnosis and testing procedure.
Refer to: SUSPENSION ARMS .
- Activate the service mode function of the Electric Park Brake (EPB).
Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SERVICE MODE ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION .
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING .
- Remove the rear wheel and tire.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .

CAUTION: Do not use air tools to remove the nut. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the component.NOTE: Retain the nut for use in the installation procedure.
- Apply the foot brake.
- Remove the halfshaft nut.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the brake disc.
Refer to: BRAKE DISC .
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the rear brake disc shield.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the wheel speed sensor wiring harness.

CAUTION: Discard the nuts and bolts.
- Remove the stabilizer bar link nut.
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Remove the integral link.

CAUTION: Discard the nut and the bolt.
Remove the lower control arm to wheel knuckle nut and the bolt.

CAUTION: Discard the nut and bolt.
- Remove the nut and the bolt.
- Release the tie-rod.

CAUTION:
- Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.
- Do not use a hammer to detach the halfshaft from the hub assembly, failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the halfshaft.
Using the special tool, press out the halfshaft from the wheel knuckle.

CAUTION: Discard the nut and bolt.
- Remove the upper control arm nut and the bolt.
- Remove the wheel knuckle.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
Using the special tools, press out the drive flange from the wheel bearing.
Special Tool(s): 204-726, JLR-204-836
General Equipment: Hydraulic press

Using a chisel, open up a gap to allow the special tool access.

- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 204-305
- Using a hydraulic press, push the wheel hub out of the inner bearing race.
General Equipment: Hydraulic press
- Install the special tool.

CAUTION: Damaged components must be replaced.NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
Clean and inspect the wheel hub mating face for deterioration, replace if damaged.

Remove the circlip from the wheel knuckle assembly.

- Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
Using the special tool and a hydraulic press, remove the wheel bearing.
