Transfer Case Rear Output Seal (G1569233): Removal

CAUTION: The transfer case rear output seal and flange must be replaced as a kit. Do not replace the seal as a separate item.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

  2. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Refer to: Transfer Case  (Removal).
  4. CAUTION: Discard the snap ring.

  5. CAUTION:
    • Remove and discard the shim.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

  6. CAUTION: Discard the output flange.

    Using a suitable tool, remove the output flange.

  7. CAUTION:
    • Care must be taken to avoid damage to the seal register and running surface.
    • Discard the seal.
