Inspection And Verification
CAUTION:
Diagnosis by substitution from a donor vehicle is NOT
acceptable. Substitution of control modules does not guarantee confirmation of a fault, and may also cause additional faults in the vehicle being tested and/or the donor vehicle.
NOTE:
Prior to any testing or inspection, the vehicle should be check for any relevant warning lamps being illuminated. If a warning lamp is illuminated, check for DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC Index. If no warning lamp is illuminated, continue with diagnostic procedures below.
- Verify the customer concern
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of damage and system integrity
Visual Inspection
MECHANICAL ELECTRICAL - Electric park brake actuator(s)
- Brake caliper
- Brake discs/pads
- Electric park brake control module mounting
- Fuse(s)
- Wiring harness/electrical connectors
- Check for bent/corroded electric park brake control module connector pins
- Electric park brake switch
- Electric park brake control module
- CAN circuit
- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step
- If the cause is not visually evident, check the anti-lock braking system and steering rotation sensor modules for DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index.
