Removal And Installation: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Jaguar XE and 2017 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new high pressure fuel pipe.
    CAUTION:
    • Lubricate only the union threads with clean engine oil.
    • Only tighten the bolts and unions finger tight at this stage.

    • Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe hand tight until the unions are fully seated.
      CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.
    • Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolts hand tight, then loosen by 90 degrees.
    • Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipes unions.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

    • Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolts.

      Torque  :

      M8 bolt (3) 25 Nm 

      M6 bolt (2) 11.5 Nm 

    • Wait for 30 seconds.
    • Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions torque.

      Torque: 21 Nm

    • Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipes hand tight until the unions are fully seated.
      CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.
    • Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

  4. Secure the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe.

    Torque: 12 Nm

    • Wait for 30 seconds.
    • Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions torque.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

  6. Install the high pressure fuel pipe shield.

    Torque  :

    M10 29 Nm 

    M6 11 Nm 

  7. Connect and secure the high pressure fuel pump wiring harness.
  8. Install the engine mount bracket to the engine.

    Torque: 48 Nm 

  9. Secure the generator wiring harness.
  10. Remove the hydraulic jack.

    General Equipment:  Transmission jack

  11. Install the idler pulley.

    Torque: 25 Nm 

  12. Install the generator.

    Refer to: Generator .

  13. Install the engine mount nut.

    Torque: 60 Nm 

  14. Install a new seal.

    Renew Part: Fuel injector O-ring seals. 

  15. Using the special tool, install a new fuel injector seal.

    Special Tool(s):  310-198

    Renew Part: Fuel injector seal. 

  16. Using the special tool, correctly located the seal.

  17. Install the fuel injector clamp.
    CAUTION: If the original fuel injector is being installed, the original fuel injector clamp must installed with the fuel injector it was removed with.

  18. Insert the special tools.
    CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then the special tool 310-200-02 without the thread must be used to install the fuel rail.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  19. Install the right side fuel injectors.
    CAUTION: When installing the fuel injector(s), make sure that the Teflon seal is clean and free of foreign material and lubricant.

  20. Install the fuel rail pressure sensor.
    NOTE: This step is only required if a new fuel rail is installed.

    Refer to: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor .

  21. Install the right side fuel rail.
    CAUTION:
    • If new fuel injectors are installed, a new injector clamp must be installed.
    • Make sure that the fuel injector is aligned and installed into the fuel rail correctly, as noted in the removal step.
    NOTE: Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  22. Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  23. Install the bolt.

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  24. Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  25. Install the bolt.

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  26. Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque  :

    Bolt 2 30 Nm 

    Bolt 3 30 Nm 

    Bolt 1 30 Nm 

  27. Connect the fuel rail pressure sensor connector.
  28. Install the right side spark plugs.

    Special Tool(s):  303-1450

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  29. Check that the vertical section of the T mark located on top of the spark plug, is aligned to no more than 45 degrees either side from the adjoining fuel injector.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the spark plugs are aligned correctly.

  30. Install the right side ignition coils.

    Torque: 7 Nm 

  31. Connect the right side fuel injectors and ignition coils wiring harness.
  32. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

    • Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe and bracket bolt finger tight until the unions are fully seated.
    • Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe union.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

    • Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolt.

      Torque: 6 Nm 

    • Wait 30 seconds.
    • Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe union torque.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

  33. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

    • Install the high pressure fuel crossover pipe hand tight.
    • Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe unions.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

    • Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe retaining bolts.

      Torque: 11 Nm 

    • Wait for 30 seconds.
    • Check the fuel crossover pipe unions for the correct torque.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

  34. Secure the engine wiring harness.
  35. Install the right side breather.
  36. Install the right side engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
  37. Connect and secure the brake vacuum pipe.
  38. Connect the right side coolant pipes.
  39. Install the left side engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
  40. Secure the left side pipes.
  41. Connect the left side coolant pipes.
  42. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.

    Refer to: Right Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .

  43. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

  44. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol .

  45. Fill the cooling system.

    Refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
