Removal And Installation: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Jaguar XE and 2017 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install a new seal.

    Renew Part: Fuel injector O-ring seals. 

  2. Using the special tool, install a new fuel injector seal.

    Special Tool(s):  310-198

    Renew Part: Fuel injector seal. 

  3. Using the special tool, correctly located the seal.

  4. Install the fuel injector clamp.
    CAUTION: If the original fuel injector is being installed, the original fuel injector clamp must be installed with the fuel injector it was removed with.

  5. Insert the special tools.
    CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then the special tool 310-200-02 without the thread must be used to install the fuel rail.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  6. Install the fuel left side injectors.
    CAUTION: When installing the fuel injector(s), make sure that the Teflon seal is clean and free of foreign material and lubricant.

  7. Install the left side fuel rail.
    CAUTION:
    • If new fuel injectors are installed, a new injector clamp must be installed.
    • Make sure that the fuel injector is aligned and installed into the fuel rail correctly, as noted in the removal step.
    NOTE: Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

    Torque:  20 Nm

  8. Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  9. Install the bolt.

    Torque:  20 Nm

  10. Remove the special tool.
    G11293424

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  11. Install the bolt.
    G11293425

    Torque:  20 Nm

  12. Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque  :

    Bolt 2 30 Nm 

    Bolt 3 30 Nm 

    Bolt 1 30 Nm 

  13. Install the left side spark plugs.

    Special Tool(s):  303-1450

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  14. Check that the vertical section of the T mark located on top of the spark plug, is aligned to no more than 45 degrees either side from the adjoining fuel injector.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the spark plugs are aligned correctly.

  15. Install the left side ignition coils.

    Torque: 7 Nm 

  16. Connect the left side fuel injectors and ignition coils wiring harness.
  17. CAUTION: Fuel tubes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

    • Install the high pressure fuel crossover pipe hand tight.
    • Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe unions.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

    • Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe retaining bolts.

      Torque: 11 Nm 

    • Wait for 30 seconds.
    • Check the fuel crossover pipe unions for the correct torque.

      Torque: 21 Nm 

  18. Install the right side breather.
  19. Install the right side engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
  20. Connect and secure the brake vacuum pipe.
  21. Connect the right side coolant pipes.
  22. Install the purge valve.

    Refer to: Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve .

  23. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol .

  24. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

  25. Fill the cooling system.

    Refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
