Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    • Lubricate only the union threads with clean engine oil.
    • Only tighten the bolts and unions finger tight at this stage.

    Install the new high pressure fuel pipe.

    Renew Part: Fuel rail supply pipe.

    1. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

      Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe hand tight until the unions are fully seated.

    2. Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolts hand tight, then loosen by 90 degrees.
    3. Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipes unions.

      Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

    4. Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolts.

      Torque Specifications: 

      M8 bolt (3) 25 Nm 

      M6 bolt (2) 11.5 Nm 

    5. Wait for 30 seconds.
    6. Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions torque.

    Torque Specification: 21 Nm

    1. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

      Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipes hand tight until the unions are fully seated.

    2. Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions.

    Torque Specification: 21 Nm

    Secure the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm

    1. Wait for 30 seconds.
    2. Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe unions torque.

    Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

  6. Install the high pressure fuel pipe shield.

    Torque Specifications: 

    M10 29 Nm 

    M6 11 Nm 

  7. Connect and secure the high pressure fuel pump wiring harness.
  8. Install the engine mount bracket to the engine.

    Torque Specification: 48 Nm 

  9. Secure the generator wiring harness.
  10. Remove the hydraulic jack.

    General Equipment:  Transmission jack

  11. Install the idler pulley.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm 

  12. Install the generator.

    Refer to: Generator

  13. Install the engine mount nut.

    Torque Specification: 60 Nm

    Install a new seal.

    Renew Part: Fuel injector O-ring seals. 

  15. G11288046

    Using the special tool, install a new fuel injector seal.

    Special Tool(s):  310-198

    Renew Part: Fuel injector seal.

    Using the special tool, correctly located the seal.

    Special Tool(s):  310-199

    Install a new fuel injector clamp.

    Renew Part: Fuel Injector replacement kits. 

  18. CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then the special tool 310-200-02 without the thread must be used to install the fuel rail.

    Insert the special tools.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

  19. CAUTION: When installing the fuel injector(s), make sure that the Teflon seal is clean and free of foreign material and lubricant.

    Install the right side fuel injectors.

  20. NOTE: This step is only required if a new fuel rail is installed.

    Install the fuel rail pressure sensor.

    Refer to: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor

  21. CAUTION:
    • If new fuel injectors are installed, a new injector clamp must be installed.
    • Make sure that the fuel injector is aligned and installed into the fuel rail correctly, as noted in the removal step.
    NOTE: Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

    Install the right side fuel rail.

    Torque Specification: 20 Nm

    Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

    Install the bolt.

    Torque Specification: 20 Nm

    Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  310-200-01, 310-200-02

    Install the bolt.

    Torque Specification: 20 Nm

    Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque Specifications: 

    Bolt 2 30 Nm 

    Bolt 3 30 Nm 

    Bolt 1 30 Nm 

  27. Connect the fuel rail pressure sensor connector.
  28. Install the right side spark plugs.

    Special Tool(s):  303-1450

    Torque Specification: 20 Nm 

  29. CAUTION: Make sure that the spark plugs are aligned correctly.

    Check that the vertical section of the T mark located on top of the spark plug, is aligned to no more than 45 degrees either side from the adjoining fuel injector.

  30. Install the right side ignition coils.

    Torque Specification: 7 Nm 

  31. Connect the right side fuel injectors and ignition coils wiring harness.
  32. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

    1. Install the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe and bracket bolt finger tight until the unions are fully seated.
    2. Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe union.

      Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

    3. Fully tighten the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe mounting bracket bolt.

      Torque Specification: 6 Nm 

    4. Wait 30 seconds.
    5. Check the high pressure fuel pump supply pipe union torque.

    Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

  33. CAUTION: Fuel pipes may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel tube after each full tightening sequence.

    1. Install the high pressure fuel crossover pipe hand tight.
    2. Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe unions.

      Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

    3. Fully tighten the fuel crossover pipe retaining bolts.

      Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

    4. Wait for 30 seconds.
    5. Check the fuel crossover pipe unions for the correct torque.

    Torque Specification: 21 Nm 

  34. Secure the engine wiring harness.
  35. Install the right side breather.
  36. Install the right side engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
  37. Connect and secure the brake vacuum pipe.
  38. Connect the right side coolant pipes.
  39. Install the left side engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
  40. Secure the left side pipes.
  41. Connect the left side coolant pipes.
  42. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.

    Refer to: Right Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe

  43. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect And Connect

  44. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol

  45. Fill the cooling system.

    Refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining, Filling And Bleeding
