Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: Jacking .

General Equipment: Two-post lift
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
Drain the coolant system.
Refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining and Vacuum Filling .
Remove the engine cover.
Remove the front Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
NOTE: If equipped.

Remove the NVH material.
Remove the breather.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Disconnect the coolant hose.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Remove the upper coolant pipe.
Remove the purge valve.
Release the vacuum pipe.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Remove the lower coolant pipe.
Disconnect and release the wiring harness.
Disconnect and release the wiring harness.
Disconnect the charge air pipe.
Release the dipstick tube from the intake manifold assembly.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Disconnect the coolant hose from the thermostat assembly.
Release the 7 bolts and then remove the intake manifold.
Remove and discard the intake manifold gaskets.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Remove the manifold absolute pressure sensor.
Remove the throttle body.

Discard the seal.
