Electronic Engine Controls - Overview (G1772583)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jaguar XJ, 2016 Jaguar XJ, 2015 Jaguar XJ, 2014 Jaguar XJ, and 2013 Jaguar XJ. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The electronic engine control system operates the engine to generate the output demanded by the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor and loads imposed by other systems. The electronic engine control system has an ECM that uses a torque-based strategy to evaluate inputs from sensors and other systems, then produces outputs to engine actuators to produce the required torque.
The electronic engine control system controls the following:
- Charge air
- Fueling
- Ignition timing
- Valve timing
- Cylinder knock
- Idle speed
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP)
- On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
- Speed control
