Belt Tensioner

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Jaguar XF, 2014 Jaguar XF, and 2013 Jaguar XF. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The belt tensioner comprises a deflection pulley mounted to a spring loaded pivot arm. The tensioner is located on the longest side of the drive belt between the crankshaft and the generator pulleys. The belt tensioner pre-loads the drive belt in order to drive the accessory components without belt slip occurring.

The belt tensioner also provides the means to remove and install the drive belt.
