Engine crank requests are monitored by the passive anti-theft system and, if valid, passed on to the engine control module (ECM). For additional information, refer to Anti-Theft - Passive information.
When the engine control module (ECM) receives a crank request, it energizes the starter relay in the power distribution box. The energized starter relay supplies power from the central junction box (CJB) to energize the starter solenoid. The energized solenoid then connects the power feed from the battery to the starter motor via the positive remote charge terminal.
