Brake Pads - XK-RS Gt: Removal

WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
WARNING: Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.
CAUTION: Take care not to contaminate the brake pad friction materials or the brake discs.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
    WARNING: WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove 2 opposing wheel nuts.

    Torque: 125 Nm

  3. Install the wheel guide tools. (Located in the vehicle tool kit.)

    Torque: 20 Nm

    4. CAUTION: The brake disc can be easily damaged. Take extra care when removing and installing the wheel.
  4. Remove the remaining wheel nuts and slide the wheel and tire over the guide tools.

    Torque: 125 Nm

  7. Remove the brake pads.

  9. Inspect the caliper pistons, seals and brake discs for damage.

  10. Clean and inspect the brake caliper at the brake pad contact points.

    11. CAUTION: Check the brake fluid reservoir level before pushing the piston back, failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
    CAUTION: The brake disc can be easily damaged. Do not strike or lever on the brake disc.
    NOTE: As the piston is pushed back into the caliper housing, the brake fluid level in the reservoir will rise. Do not allow the reservoir to overflow.
  11. Press the pistons into the caliper housing.
  12. Repeat this procedure for the other side.
