Brake Disc Runout Check - Vehicles With: Carbon Ceramic Brakes: Activation

WARNING: Brake discs must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.

CAUTION: Take care not to contaminate the brake pad friction materials or the brake discs.

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove 2 opposing wheel nuts.
Torque: 125 Nm
Install the wheel guide tools. (Located in the vehicle tool kit.)
Torque: 20 Nm
The brake disc can be easily damaged. Take extra care when removing and installing the wheel.
Remove the remaining wheel nuts and slide the wheel and tire over the guide tools.

Torque: 125 Nm

NOTE: Make sure that the brake disc is fully seated against the hub face.

Install all wheel nuts and tighten equally to 20 Nm.
Make sure the brake disc is clean and free from foreign materials.
Install a dial test indicator gauge and holding fixture to a suitable mounting point.

NOTE: If the runout is outside specification, check the hub face runout before installing a new brake disc.

- Using the dial test indicator, measure the inner and outer faces of the brake disc. Position the gauge so that it contacts the disc 10 mm from the outer edge avoiding the cross drilled vent holes. Slowly rotate the hub/disc assembly. Note the reading.
- The axial run out of the brake disc should not exceed 0.10 mm.
