Side Air Bag Module: Removal

  1. Make the SRS system safe. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Health and Safety Precautions .
  2. Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS information.
  3. Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT information.

  4. Release the front seat backrest cover lower tension straps.
    • Release from the seat frame.
  5. Release the 9 front seat backrest cover rear panel retaining clips.
    • Release from the backrest cover.
    • Release from the seat frame.

  6. Release the 5 front seat backrest cover lower retaining clips.
    • Release from the seat frame.
  7. Release the front seat backrest cover central tension straps.
    • Release from the seat frame.

  8. Remove the side air bag module.
    • Remove and discard the 2 nuts.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Release the backrest cover.
