Occupant monitoring provides the Restraints Control Module (RCM) with the occupancy status of the front passenger seat.
The occupant detection system determines if the front passenger seat is occupied or unoccupied. The system consists of a pressure sensor installed between the foam padding and the cover of the front passenger seat cushion. From the occupancy status, and the status of the front passenger safety belt, the instrument cluster determines the seat belt minder status. Refer to Safety Belt System information.
