Transmission - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol/V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G1571839): Removal

NOTE:
- Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
- Some illustrations may show the transmission removed for clarity.
- Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.
- Refer to Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
- Refer to Engine Cover - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol (Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
- Refer to Cowl Vent Screen (Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
Special Tool(s): 303-1435
Torque Specification: 25 Nm
Special Tool(s): 303-021
- Refer to Exhaust System - RWD (V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.NOTE: The O-ring seals are to be reused unless damaged.

CAUTION: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
- Mark the torque converter and flexplate when removing the last torque converter bolt. Make sure that the alignment mark is visible through the inspection hole.

NOTE: Mark the position of the driveshaft on the transmission flange.

CAUTION: Discard the bolts.

NOTE: Use penetrating oil - spray through the driveshaft bolt holes as shown.

NOTE: Driveshaft joint shown removed for clarity.

NOTE:
- Two washers must be installed to the assist in the removal of the driveshaft.
- Alternate tighten the bolts until the movement of the driveshaft joint is detected.

NOTE: Repeat above steps until the driveshaft joint is fully released.
Remove the bolts, turn the propshaft and repeat the above step at the other unthreaded hole.

CAUTION: Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.

WARNING: Make sure that the transmission is secured with suitable retaining straps.
Using a suitable stand, support the transmission.
General Equipment: Transmission jack

- Make sure that the transmission is secured with suitable retaining straps.
CAUTION:- Care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding components.
- Make sure that the torque converter remains in the transmission.
NOTE: Secure the torque converter to the transmission using suitable cable ties. -
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
