Vehicle Interface

Then Instrument Cluster (IC) receives a permanent power supply from the vehicle battery via a 50A midi-fuse located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB) and then Central Junction Box (CJB). The cluster also has a connection with the CJB for the security Light Emitting Diode (LED) operation.

The IC communicates with other vehicle systems via the Medium Speed (MS) Controller Area Network (CAN) body systems bus, the High Speed (HS) CAN chassis, comfort and powertrain systems bus. The cluster is not a gateway for these interfaces; this task is performed by the Central Junction Box (CJB).

The IC is connected to the Touch Screen (TS) by a Low Voltage Differential Signalling (LVDS) digital video screened cable. This connection is to support the detailed satellite navigation maps displayed in the IC.

A single wire from the IC to the Electric Steering Column Lock (ESCL) provides a ground for the lock operation. Power supply and control for the steering column lock is provided by the CJB via hardwired connection and a HS CAN powertrain systems bus connection.
